Oh boy are we in trouble! Kaden is in love with kissing! Anyone willing to pucker up (and even those not), he will plant one on. Typically he opens his mouth up wide, sticks his tongue out and plants one on ya. It is too funny and too cute. The other day, I was folding laundry in the new play room and he was playing with Emma's dolls. I got out my phone to take a picture (you know...to torture him with when he is older), and right when I got it open, he started kissing the dolls. He would kiss one, then the other, then back to the first one...over and over. It was so stinkin' cute. It was so hard to not laugh, and of course Emma got a little bent out of shape over the fact that Kaden had stolen her dolls. She tried to take them back, but he hadn't had enough yet. Watch out ladies! Check it out....

Another month has gone and boy has Kaden hit a few milestones! At the beginning of January at just over 9 months old, Kaden took his first steps. It was January 9th, to be exact! That was a BIG day for us, as he also got his first tooth! Both, four months earlier than Emma did. He is one active little man, that is for sure. But, he doesn't talk near as much as Emma did at this age. Emma was signing and talking, but perfectly content to sit on the floor with the same toy forevery. Boy are their personalities different, yet you can definitely tell they are brother and sister. It is so much fun to watch them growing up. It's even funnier to watch them fight! Kaden may be little, but he can put up a good front to Emma. Boy does she make him mad sometimes (and likewise)! Emma didn't get her first tooth until after she was a year old, but Kaden is breaking through his first tooth!

Talk about a WHITE Christmas! Well, we were homebound for Christmas this year. It was quite bittersweet. It was nice to snuggle up with the family and enjoy our time together...but, that meant that we were unable to make it out for Church on Christmas Eve (cancelled anyways) or to my grandparents on Christmas Day for lunch. And, since we were planning on heading to Cozad Christmas day too, I really didn't have any food for us! Oh well, we managed just fine! We were able to wade our way out of the house the day after Christmas to get over to the Koch's. We enjoyed an evening of time with friends and Wii...which Emma LOVED. Now, I should have never played it because now I want one!!! Maybe after Christmas we can look into getting one. We definitely all had fun!
Here is Emma on Christmas Night ready to go out in the snow!
The kids had a great Christmas morning. Santa brought them EVERYTHING that they wanted. Adam, trying to be nice (and, lets be honest a big kid himself) forgot to wake me when Emma got up, so I missed seeing her face when she saw what Santa brought....a HANDY MANNY TOOL BENCH (of course)!!! And, unfortunately he didn't turn the light on when he was video taping it, so you couldn't see it. What a bummer. To say I was a bit disappointed was an understatement. There were no pictures of her discovery either. Poo! I did appreciate getting to sleep in, but would have rather gotten up to see the huge smile on her face when she saw what she had asked for. Kaden did so great opening his gifts as well! He really got into tearing the paper (when Emma allowed him). He had too many gifts and quite frankly got bored too quickly. But, Emma was happy to continue helping him out with his packages. After unwrapping gifts, we were able to play with and enjoy them, since we were obviously not leaving in the blizzard! Check out our Christmas Pictures in the Photo Album!

Well, Daddy wasn't really in the mood to decorate the Christmas tree, so Emma helped me out. Granted, we are barely getting it up before Christmas! The two of us had a very good time trimming the tree...Kaden wasn't of much help, so we put him to bed and t hen got to "trimming"!
Is there any doubt what her ornament was??? Yep, you guessed it...Handy Manny. Santa better pull through this year and bring her that tool bench! Dad is just a little proud!

While I keep thinking that Kaden is getting so big, he is still quite the little man. I cannot believe that at 9 months old he is still barely over 16 pounds. At his check up his stats were as follows:
Weight: 16 pounds 2.2 ounces
Height: 26.5 inches
Head: 18.2 inches
Yes, we are quite aware that he has a big head! While the little guy still fits in 3-6 months clothes, there is no way you could squeeze his head into that size of hat! I just say he has a lot of brains in there! I was so afraid that the doctor would say something about how he hadn't gained any weight. I think he was about to say something to that effect, when Kaden crawled across the room, climbed up his leg and started walking around the chair. Then, during the exam, Kaden was climbing everywhere off of "Dr. Bob". He admitted that he likely isn't gaining because he is EXTREMELY active. He is a crazy man, enough said! He is perfectly healthy (which we knew) and definitely meeting his milestones. We are so proud! Here he is with his puppy...
And one with big sis....and YES, we know he has bruises on his forehead. He's learning how to walk!
And, here is Emma at 9 months old with her bear

Spoken from the mouth of a three year old! And, I have to admit that I am right there with her. This week brought us quite the snow storm. Well, it maybe wasn't that bad, but for a first snow of the season, nearly a foot of snow is quite a bit! While we were walking in the snow to our car, Emma informed us that she hates winter...I think she gest the I hate thing from the movie UP. The dogs in that movie say, "I hate squirrels!" Emma recites it frequently except from her mouth it sounds like, "I hate squillels!" So cute! It is very cold, so we haven't even had a chance to go out and play in that snow. I hope this week it warms up enough that it at least isn't freezing in the afternoon. Anything above 30 would be much appreciated! Wow, am I really asking for only 30 degrees? I'm losing it!
We did some christmas shopping today and it was miserable getting in and out of the cars. After our last stop it was starting to drizzle and the roads were getting pretty slick. I'm sooo glad I don't have to get out and drive in this fun stuff every day. But, we do have to venture out tomorrow. Kaden has his 9 month check up....I sure hope the doctor doesn't get too concerned with his weight. Adam weighed him in our bathroom tonight and he only weighed 16 pounds. I'm hoping that was a little off. That would mean he hasn't gained anything in 3 months! I'm sure the bathroom scale isn't very accurate, so I'm not too worried. We will see what he says. We have a fairly busy day tomorrow. On top of that, we have my friends appointment to go to...I need to see the chiropractor, my great friend Tiffany Leonida at Healthy Start Chiropractic, and we need to prep the living room for the Christmas Tree! Yes, December is half over and we haven't put up our tree yet! What is wrong with us???
Kaden is into everything! That is why there is no tree yet. He crawls all over the house and pulls up on everything. I have a feeling the tree is going to be his favorite target. We will soon see. Emma and I made a chain to put either around the tree or on the mantle...we haven't decided yet. I think it turned out great! We need to come up with a new project for this week. Staying inside is giving me some major cabin fever. We like getting out and about at least a few times a week. Well, Kaden just woke up...I sure wish he would sleep through the night! So, I better go get him back to sleep. We have to get up and around early for his appointment tomorrow.

Well, time has just flew by, hasn't it? I think it has been nearly 3 months since I have logged in here! Shame on me! So what is new with us??? Well, what isn't new?
The first week of September, I gave my two weeks notice at work. Adam and I decided that it was best for our family to have mommy at home with the kids more than I was. With Adam working nights, we were both basically single parents and it was really wearing on both of us. Things have been tight, naturally, but it has all been so worth it. I get to see my babies grow up. I have already missed so much. The month of September was filled with trips to the park, fun at the zoo and enjoying beautiful weather as a family! It was great!!!
In October Adam applied for a new position at work. I knew he wanted it so badly and I also knew without a doubt that he was the best man for the job. Heck, he was already doing the job anyways! He was of course nervous that he wouldn't get it, but we were so hopeful. It would mean that he would move back to first shift, and we were excited to have "normal" hours in our life again. I know Adam enjoyed being on second shift a lot, especially who he got to work with on second, but this job is what he has wanted to do for a long time. And....he got it! I am so so proud of him. I tease him now that he has an "office" job, lol. He always teased me when I worked at a desk all day. He isn't exactly at a desk all day, but he is does spend some time clicking away on the mouse. We are so glad that we made the decision for me to stay home when we did. We would have never kept both kids in full time daycare. Paying that much money each month for someone else to get to love on your kids, just wasn't an option. So, we are glad we got to enjoy so much great beautiful weather together in September and October!
Halloween was a blast! You will have to check out the kids' pictures either on facebook or in the photo section here. There are a lot of other new pictures as well, as I am disgustingly behind schedule! I will be sure to post Kaden's "montly" pictures under the correct dates sometime in the next week...I need to get them off of my camera. We can't seem to find the cord...I'm guessing a cute little blonde 3 year old has stashed it in some completely unknown place! If only she could remember!!! Anyways, Kaden was a little pirate and Emma was Tinkerbell. They were both adorable if I do say so myself!
Kaden is almost 9 months old! He is eating a TON of solids! He will pretty much consume ANYTHING you put in front of him, including all of his veggies, meats, etc. he isn't picky! His favorite...French Fries! Yes, I know, I'm a bad mommy, lol. Emma didn't get her first french fry until she was probably 2 years old. Kaden is so lucky! Or, maybe we are just getting pretty lax. He consumed his first CAKE as well at Kris and Susan's (Adam's parents) surprise anniversary party. I am pleased to announce as well, that we were able to keep the surprise! Susan was a little upset at first, but I think she got over it. It was a fun time for everyone, I think. Topped off with a Husker win against K State. Kaden crawled for the first time last week! Right before Thanksgiving he took a few "crawls", but that was about it. At Kris and Susan's two Sunday's ago, he did about 4 or 5...now, there is no stopping him! He crawls all over the place, pulls himself up on furniture and walks around the furniture. He can stand unsupported in the middle of the room as well. It's only a matter of time before he is walking all over the place I am sure! Boy are we in trouble!
Emma is her usual self....full of spunk and attitude. Right now as I type there is a blizzard outside...Emma informed me, "I hate Winter!" So stinkin cute. I have to agree with her for sure! Adam is so glad to see the snow arrive. He is one of those crazy people that loves winter....and snow. He likes to run his snow blower. Crazy guy! I am pleased to know that I don't have to get out and drive in this crap! Yay! Emma is completely obsessed with Handy Manny right now. She informed Santa that she wants a Handy Manhy toolbench...and, that he could just bring Kaden some Handy Manny stuff as well! So funny! She knows how to work the system.
Speaking of Santa...we went to see him this past Saturday. I was a little nervous about her sitting on his lap, but I figured she would because she REALLY wanted a Handy Manny toolbench from him. Adam bet that she would cry and back out...
Well, I won! Too bad we didn't do an official bet! She even gave him a hug. Our picture doesn't really show her smiling, but she did smile. The photographer just didn't catch it. Kaden, well, he always smiles! So, he is easy to work with.
For thanksgiving this year, we went to Colorado to the CU game with Papa Doug. We had a blast! We had to convince Papa to stayan extra day because we didnt want to go home yet. The kids did so great out there. I was shocked that Kaden traveled so well. He hardly got upset on the way there. The ride home was a little rougher, but for the most part he did awesome. We did the whole trip in one day on the way home, so it was long time for the little man to be in his carseat. Emma didn't mind the long trip...it meant more time for her to watch movies. Kids these days, have it so rough!
Well, I am sure that I am missing a ton of stuff, but I'm going to leave it at this for now...

Well, since we didn't get Emma's pictures at 7 months, we decided to skip Kaden's too...just kidding! We don't have a 7 month picture for either of them. I get the worst mother of the year award on this one! What is up with me? Emma was sick around the time that she turned 7 months old, and we never could get a picture of her because she wasn't really up to it. And, I just plum forgot about it with Kaden. Shame on me! He is doing so much right now! He can pull himself up and cruise along furniture. He doesn't really show any desire to crawl at this point. No surprise there....Emma was a late crawler. She also cruised before crawling. We will see how old Kaden is before he starts scooting across the room. I'm not ready for this mobile baby thing! We DO have 8 month pictures with their bears for comparison....so, here they are:
Kaden at 8 months:
And missy Emma:
You can't really tell in Kaden's photo, but his hair is getting so blonde! Don't mention it to Adam, though!

GO BIG RED (go big red)!!!
Emma had a blast at her first Husker game. Thank you so much to Papa Doug for hooking us all up with tickets. Daddy, Mommy, Emma, Papa Doug, Aunt Whit and Aaron all enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL day at Memorial Stadium!!!
Emma even sported a "cornhead" at the University Bookstore!
Smiling big with Mommy and Daddy!
Sporting the crossbones with Papa Doug!
And, of course she had to sit with Aunt Whit. Mom and Dad are so not cool
when Aunt Whit is around!!!!!
Check out that cutie! We are the luckiest family in the world to have her in our lives!

Wow, 6 months old already! Our little man is a little peanut. He is even smaller than Emma was at this age. The doctor, of course, made a comment about how small he is...but, wasn't too concerned at this point. I am not worried at all. I think he just has some crazy metabolism! The kid never quits moving! We have started him on some "solid" food, if you can call it that. So far everything we have put in his mouth he has eaten. Even when he makes a funny face, he still continues to dive at the spoon. I will have to post some pictures of him eating his first baby food. We are making his food, like we did Emma's. It is pretty easy and saves a TON of money. Plus, it feels more natural and not full of preservatives.
Well, here are the stats for month 6:
Weight: 14 pounds 5 ounces (7%)
Height: 25.5" (24%)
Head: 17.2" (74%)
Yep, 7%! Such a skinny little dude. He height and head are on track with what Emma was at this age, I believe. But, he is a little skinnier. Oh well! He is definitely on his developmental milestones.
Here are their pictures to compare, like always:
